HALT operates a subcommittee, named Whakamana Whanau,in order to arrange events and promotional activities to share the violence-free message.
Whakamana Whanau is also a collaborative of a number of agencies within the Horowhenua who have an interest in preventing and reducing family violence.
Family Violence thrives in secrecy, it thrives when people do not talk about it and when people don't know where, or if, they can get help. Our events and activities work to ensure that the Horowhenua community is aware of the problem, of how they can help, and of the services available to assist with change.
One of the central events in the HALT calendar is White Ribbon week. White Ribbon day is held on the 25th November each year and is the International Day Against Violence Towards Women. HALT uses this day to anchor a week of events in the Horowhenua area.
